Delaware North, a gaming company, has formed a partnership with software provider Miomni to offer sports betting services across its extensive range of properties.

Mardi Gras Casino and Wheeling Island Casino in West Virginia are both owned by Delaware North.

Miomni has been granted exclusive rights as the sole provider of Delaware North’s sports betting platform and technology, as stipulated in the agreement. This partnership encompasses both mobile and retail operations.

Brian Hansberry, the gaming president of Delaware North, stated in a press release that by collaborating with Miomni, a renowned expert firm in technology, Delaware North is in a distinctive position to establish itself as a frontrunner in the emerging sports wagering industry in the United States.

Miomni will support Delaware North’s efforts to go online as states like Arkansas, Arizona, Illinois, New York, and Ohio legalize sports betting.

Additionally, the two companies have intentions to offer complete solutions to other gaming companies. Given the multitude of existing partnerships, it remains uncertain how many companies will choose to avail themselves of the duo’s solutions.

Partnership may be cause of delay in sports betting debut

At the end of September, both Mardi Gras and Wheeling Island are anticipated to launch their sportsbooks.

Earlier, we reported that the debuts were delayed by Delaware North management. However, no new date for the grand openings has been provided by company officials.

It is plausible that Delaware North and Miomni encountered a last-minute obstacle. These types of agreements require considerable time and intricate negotiations, which often lead to multiple delays.

The partnership’s completion signifies an enhancement in the overall product. Miomni can now introduce its range of solutions in an entirely new region. This agreement marks the initial venture of the British software firm outside Nevada, working in the US.

West Virginia casinos have the luxury of doing it right

Taking the decision to postpone the introduction of sports betting might initially appear detrimental for a casino company. Nevertheless, the circumstances surrounding the West Virginia sports betting scenario diverge significantly from those observed in New Jersey or Mississippi.

To put it simply, the number of casinos is limited and there is minimal competition to be concerned about. Discussions with fellow casino managers in West Virginia have indicated that the state’s casinos do not pay much attention to one another due to their geographical distance.

Delaware North is in no rush, as there are currently only two in-state casinos offering sports wagering. In a state where gambling has a local focus, it is crucial for casinos to prioritize doing it correctly rather than hastily.

Kim Florence, regional president and general manager for Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras, expressed that the combination of factors creates an electrifying and engaging ambiance. She believes that this will greatly attract individuals from all over the state and beyond West Virginia, encouraging them to visit and explore these resorts.
