Best NFL Betting Apps in WV
West Virginia loves its football and not having a “home” NFL team doesn’t slow down its football fever. There’s plenty of action around West Virginia college football, too, but there’s nothing like a heated NFL rivalry to lay a point spread or moneyline bet on.
1. DraftKings Sportsbook WV (Hollywood Casino Sportsbook)

For online NFL betting in WV Hollywood has partnered with DFS and sportsbook powerhouse DraftKings.
Tens of thousands of bets are taken on WV DraftKings over the first weekend of the NFL season alone so expect it to be a hot spot of action right through the 2022 Super Bowl.
A full slate of point spread, moneyline, parlays and prop/futures bets are available per week along with in game betting (Flash Bet). Real-money NFL Fantasy games are also available. Sportsbook pools (fixed-price pools of games where you match your bets vs. other players) are still to come.
You can bet on the NFL with WV DraftKings via the online sportsbook or the downloadable app for iPhone, iPad or Android. Get more info and access a $50 bonus bet through the link on the review page here:
2. FanDuel Sportsbook WV (FanDuel Sportsbook at The Greenbrier)
The Greenbrier is a private casino club that partnered with FanDuel for its members-only sportsbook. Guests of the hotel can place bets in the sportsbook and watch games on the 21 TVs located in the area.

Nevertheless, BetMGM Sportsbook brings an innovative approach to sports betting that will likely set it apart – at least, somewhat – from its competitors. Along with features typical of the modern online book, such as extensive live betting and a cash out option, BetMGM allows players to edit their own bets under certain conditions.

NFL Bet Types
Here’s a quick introduction to the most popular NFL betting options.
Point Spread
Betting the spread is one of the most popular bets on the NFL. Oddsmakers establish the point spread by selecting the favorite team and estimating it will win by a certain number of points – called the spread.
If a player bets on the favorite, the team must win by more than the point spread to win. A player can also bet on the underdog, hoping the favorite loses or at, the very least, wins by less than the spread.
If a team is listed as -2.5 points, for example, that means it is the favorite in the game and must win by over 2.5 points to win the bet. The underdog would be +2.5 points, which means it can lose by up to 2 points and still win the bet.
Moneyline
Moneyline betting is the easiest NFL bet to make. All a player has to do is pick the winning team. There is no spread to cover so the oddsmakers set the line to pay out favorites less and underdogs more when they win.
The favorite will be listed as a minus (-) and the underdog as a plus (+). The number represent how much you’ll win per $100 bet.
Eg. Bengals +250 means they are the underdog and a $100 bet will pay out $350 (your original wager plus $250).
Bengals -250 means they are the favorite and a $250 bet will pay out an added $100 (for $350 total)
You obviously don’t have to bet $100 for any bet – it’s just a useful baseline for understanding what your payout will be.
Online betting slips are great because you can enter in the bets you’d like to make and see what the payout would be based on the WV live betting odds before you have to finalize your bet.
Over/Under
A player betting on NFL totals chooses whether the final score of a game will be over or under than the total posted.
Prop Betting
Prop bets are game-specific bets that are different for each game. An NFL prop bet can be:
- A team’s total touchdowns
- A quarterback’s passing yards
- The first team to score
Prop bets can consist of a variety of options. The more popular the game, the more prop bets are usually available. It can even include options such as the winner of the coin toss.
Parlay Betting
A parlay bet is a bet that includes a series of at least two and up to 12 different bets. A player must win all of the individual bets in the series for the parlay bet to payout.
If one of the bets loses, the entire series of bets lose. The more bets in the parlay, the higher the risk; the greater the risk, the bigger the payout.
Teaser
A teaser is a parlay bet where a player can lower the risk by adjusting the spread or total to create better odds of a team covering. Reducing the risk will obviously return a lower payout.
Buying Points
Players have an option to “buy” a half-point to reduce the risk on their original point spread bet. Of course, any time a player decreases their risk, it reduces the payout.
NFL Futures
Futures betting are bets on future events. The most popular futures bet for the NFL before the season begins is who will win the Super Bowl. There are also futures on who will win each division and conference.
Round Robin
A round-robin bet takes the bets you want to make and generates multiple parlay bets.
For instance, a player wants to bet on three games. Instead of making a three-team parlay, a player can choose to round-robin it and create three different two-team parlays.
Basic NFL Betting Tips
Now that you know some of the types of bets you can make here are some basics for NFL betting strategies.
1. Bet on the right games
To be a winner at sports betting, you have to find the games with an edge and leverage that to your advantage.
Do your research. Find what you think is an advantage and make bets based on that advantage. Some weeks may produce several advantages worth betting on. Others may provide none.
Don’t make the mistake of betting for the sake of betting. Bet to be a winner.
2. Shop the lines
One way to gain an advantage is to “line shop.” Line shopping is just looking at the different sportsbooks and comparing odds on the games you want to bet on.
It’s not uncommon to find different odds at different sportsbooks. Obviously, choose the one that’s in your favor.
3. Stay clear
One of the keys to being a successful bettor is to simply stay calm. Keep in mind that the best NFL handicappers lose around 40% of the time.
Everyone loses at some point, and learning how to deal with it can be the difference between being a losing and winner bettor. Make sure your head is clear and your mind is focused before making a bet.
4. Money management
Before you start betting on the NFL season determine how much money you can afford to lose and set it aside.
This is your bankroll. It can be a weekly bankroll, a monthly bankroll, or a full season bankroll.
Next, determine how much of your bankroll you will use for each game. Remember, this is about money management. Don’t increase the size of your bets if you start winning or increase it to try and make up for losses.
