In August, the revenue generated by online casinos in West Virginia experienced a slight decline, falling just below $4.5 million.
While it is not considered a poor performance, there has been a slight decrease in comparison to the betting figures of July. The online options in the Mountain State generated over $4.7 million in the previous month.
There was a decrease in revenue of approximately $280,000.
Although it may be considered a minor setback, it is unexpected for a market that has experienced recent growth. The state introduced four new online casino platforms in May.
In August, the revenue remained steady once again, although it was not as efficient as the previous month.
In July, WV casinos achieved weekly revenue exceeding $1.2 million on two separate occasions, however, in the following month, this milestone was not reached. Additionally, there was a week in which profits dipped below $1.1 million, a situation that did not transpire in July.
Although revenue fell slightly below expectations, there was a notable improvement in August’s handle. The overall handle increased to nearly $142 million, surpassing July’s figure by approximately $6.2 million.
In comparison, the current figure falls significantly below the approximately $153 million wagered in June.
In July, online casinos amassed a staggering sum of more than $39 million in just one week, surpassing the highest weekly earnings in August which amounted to a mere $37 million.

The Greenbrier once again secures the highest rank in terms of overall revenue for the second consecutive month. The collective earnings from BetMGM Casino WV and FanDuel WV, totaling nearly $2.4 million, contributed to this achievement.
The production witnessed by the private resort in July was essentially identical. However, the online casinos experienced a decrease in revenue, with a difference of approximately $50,000 this month.
While August earnings may have fallen slightly below expectations, BetMGM and FanDuel experienced a remarkable week. They recorded a total of over $680,000 in revenue during the week of August 14, marking the highest amount achieved in over two months.
